Potential

Ok so I did not get tons today. I did get a few things for my future house. This, below, will be perfect for a bathroom I think. I can use it to put some books/magazines in and hang either towels or tp from the bottom. I will be repainting it with a base of white and whatever color the room ends up being. It cost $2.This item is pretty cool and will probably be in the main hallway. Sorry the picture is sideways. I don't care to fix it lol. I am not sure whether this will remain the wood color or will be painted but either way there are many options for this piece of wood. It was also $2.
And a cool tin. I really don't know how old it is....70's, 80's? It is cool though and was a quarter.
All in all a good day. More projects and good finds.

It Adds Up!

Ok, so I found this table on craigslist. I was not sure if I would like it from the picture I saw so I went to see it. I was looking for a table with 6 chairs and most posted on craigslist were only 4 chairs and $200 +. These are what the chairs look like. When I saw the chairs I knew I HAD to have it. They are gorgeous.Sorry for the clutter behind and the dark picture but here is the table. I love the whole set and for $60!!!!!! Crazy. I know it is not for some, but this table screams me.

A random letter holder I got for a quarter.
I accidentally posted two pics of this...I don't know how to delete it.

A cool container...
I got these two guys for free. Cute but not sure what to do with them? Maybe use them for decoration with my coca cola collection.
This is from 1948 and still has the wrap around it. It is in mint condition!!! I am sure it is worth at least $25. i got it for $5. A little higher than I normally pay for things but being that old, a coca cola product and still wrapped. It is a steel deal.

My favorite item of them all that I have been keeping an eye out for. Candy dispensers. These are only from the 70's or so but are so neat. These normally cost a good $120 + anywhere but I got them for $25. Way more than I normally pay but who can pass this up and I have some ideas rolling around in my head for where to put this and what to put in them.

Three coca cola tv trays. I can't find them online but they probably have some value too. i got each for a $1.
Another cool old container. It used to be for an old hair dryer. I just bought the container though.

Coca cola tin can. Not super old but I wanted to add it to my collection.
some old coca cola cans. Not sure what year? and in pretty bad shape. A quarter for both.
This was a steel too. Only a couple bucks, still wrapped and from 1949. Not sure how much these are worth but one of these cards unwrapped and by itself sells for $5. so I'm guessing worth $20+ and probably more.
An old book I had to have.
Only some pocket change and cute.
Some avon bottles! I of course couldn't pass them up and all of them for $2

Old bottle. Worth $20, cost $2.

Some great finds this last week. Have a good night.

Trash or Treasure?

I'm not sure why I got this owl candle, lol. It is kind of ugly. Haha, but I think I can make it work.

This is a really cool cork board from 1965.

The Kodak Instamatic M2 was an entry level movie camera for cassette film types. It used Super8 cartridged 8mm film, with fixed movie speed of 18 exposures per second. The camera was introduced in 1965 and was the most successful camera series ever made.

These books aren't worth anything but they are a series of wizard of oz books and I couldn't resist.
Books are only 10 cents a piece so sometimes you have to get a few to hit a jackpot....
For whatever reason the book below is rare and is being sold for the lowest price of $89. Crazzzzyyyy....I'm going to try and sell it for $70
All's well that ends well. :)

Just a few finds today

I found this really cool lunch box. It's from 1985. Not super old but neat nonetheless and only a $1/ I think it is Peter Rabbit?

This is an old nut cracker and container to hold the nuts. It's pretty cool and perfect. I am not sure how old it is???

I got this a week ago or so. It will be cool for a house to put by the entryway or to hang jackets or something off of. We will see.

Projects

So here are the frames I worked on last weekend. I had in mind something like this but just wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. The first frame is actually the last one I did. I chose two quotes about this photo of a moth I intend to enlarge and place in the frame. I didn't have too many quotes to chose from, so these were the best two I could find.
This frame was the first one I did. Libelula means dragonfly in spanish. I had written a poem about dragonflies when I was in Costa Rica and on here is all words or sayings from my poem.
This is the second frame I did. I have this cool spider I took a picture of in Costa Rica and plan to enlarge it for this frame. In this frame I put a bunch of names of different kinds of spiders.

To do these frames which were originally wood (I wish I would have taken a before and after) I primed them in white paint, sanded them slightly and then spray painted them black. Then I painted all the words on the frames and hand sanded them down again. I was going for a distressed, vintage look. They turned out more or less like I was hoping. :) All in all I am satisfied with the results.
A cool old Long Ranger book from the 1940's or so (I don't want to go grab it :) ) It isn't in that great of shape but it is too cool.
Another old avon bottle. The head doesn't seem to match it but it fits? Not sure if this is the actual head for this bottle or if because the avon bottle was glass and the head is plastic they couldn't match it better?

All in all a good past few days.

Theme of the Day: RED

Today's theme is red day apparently. Below you see the coolest red suitcase ever! It is bigger than any suitcase I've ever gotten but super neat. Also below you will see a sign that says Provecho. This used to be a piece of wood that had Live, laugh and dance or something like that and so I sanded that off. Then after I sanded the board to what I liked it to look like I painted on the word "Provecho" which means enjoy in Spanish. Then I re-sanded over it again to give it a worn look. It looks "ok" for my first project but I need to figure out how to give it more of a weathered look in the future maybe? I know it has to do with the wood I used - if I start out with wood that is more rickety then that will help.

I got a few books...

These I got the other day. They aren't in great shape but were basically free and could be used in a display.
Cool tin can. Newer but goes well with my collection.
And a cool plug in light! Yay!
